

The annual Swedish Classic 2009, organised by the Swedish community in Victoria in association with the Victorian Golf and Country Resort, will be worked off at the Victoria Golf Course in Rajawella off Kandy on Saturday, November 28, commencing 7.00 a.m.
Last year’s championship was a roaring success with over 100 golfers participating. The inaugural Swedish Golf Classic was held six years ago. It was organised to coincide with the birthday of former World Motorcross champion Rolf Tibblin by the Swedish community in Victoria. It has grown in stature over the years, with more events being added on to add to the fun and thrills.
Among the events to be be worked off are:
Men’s Stableford
Gold: For handicappers 0-12 Gross and Net events.
Silver: For handicappers 13-28: Net winner and runner-up.
Ladies’ Stableford
Gold: For handicappers 0-20: Gross and Net.
Silver: For handicappers 21-36: Net winner and runner-up.
Swedish Classic Trophy:
Ladies’ and Gentlemen’s Nett event.
Rolf Tibblin Cup
For gentlemen over 65 years. Nett event.
One Shots:
Ladies and Gentlemen: Longest Drive, Nearest to the Pin and Nearest to the Line.
Novices:
Ladies and Gentlemen over 12 years Net (1 to 9 holes only).
Entry forms are now available at the Royal Colombo Golf Club, Victoria Golf and Country Resort and Nuwara Eliya Golf Club. Entries close on November 26 at 4.00 p.m. and should be addressed to Victoria Golf and Country Resort, P. O. Box 7, Rajawella.

The entry fee is Rs. 2,000/- per competitor which includes charges for the gala dinner dance.
The Organising Committee, which includes Ian Tait, Sujeewa Lankatillake, Errol Johnston, Veinert Holm and Bo Linderbeg are sparing no pains to make this a memorable event.
This competition is one of the biggest which will be hosted by the Victoria Golf and Country Resort and a large number of golfers, both Sri Lankans and from abroad, are expected to turn up in their numbers.
