Panicking consumers reacted to a threat by petroleum sector trade unions to stage a three-day work to rule campaign from today along with workers in the electricity sector, Water Board and the Colombo Port They formed long queues at petrol stations throughout the day. The not so well to do who depend on kerosene for cooking and lighting were also alerted by the threatened TU action and did not want to take chances.
