

Separate ward for swine fever patients in Kandy hospital
Kandy - Following the rapid escalation of Swine Fever (H1N1), steps have been taken to allocate a separate ward at the Kandy General Hospital for suspected cases.
This measure was taken at a meeting, chaired by Central Provincial Governor Tikiri Kobbekaduwa, held at the Kandy General Hospital on Monday afternoon.
Fifteen patients with complaints of fever are under observation in the special ward.
Blood samples of the patients are sent to the MRI for their report.
Governor Kobbekaduwa insisted that special care should be taken in the case of children who are more vulnerable to H1N1.
According to Kandy District Health authorities, the region is exposed to swine fever and dengue.
A student of a leading private school for boys, died of swine fever last week.
