KULIYAPITIYA: The Kuliyapitiya Lions donated white canes to 50 visually handicapped persons at a ceremony held in the Kuliyapitiya Town Hall. It was organised by the Wayamba Branch of the Sri Lanka National Council of Visually Handicapped.

The Kuliyapitiya Lions Club also donated lenses for cataract operations to those need them.

The Chairman of the Wayamba Branch of Sri Lanka National Council for the Visually Handicapped, Ayurveda Dr. Edmond Welagedara said that the visually handicapped did seek the sympathy of the people but all they wanted was support to stand on their own feet.
