Pahalamandige Senert Fernando of Walpola-Panadura, a mother of two, died when she attempted to pluck a fruit from a jak tree. She had climbed a ladder to reach the fruit and slipped, falling to her death.

Her son Manjula Madusanka had rushed her to the Panadura hospital where the Medical officer had certified that she was dead on admission.
