A five-year-old was
admitted to the Galle Karapitiya Teaching Hospital with symptoms of the
new influenza A (H1N1) virus yesterday (11). The child’s father and four
others were also warded with the suspected symptoms.
Deputy Director Karapitiya Hospital, H. M. Edirimanna said that blood
samples of the four persons had been sent to the Medical Research
Institute (MRI) for testing. The five-year-old boy has tested positive.
He said that there had also been a student from the Technical Institute
in Galle admitted to hospital with swine flu.
However he had been discharged after he had been cured of the virus.
