KANDY - A group of unemployed graduates, belonging to the Graduates Association, staged a demonstration in front of the Ministry of Education of the Central Province, at Getambe on Tuesday (10), calling upon the Education Ministry to stop political favouritism in recruiting graduates for employment.
The demonstrators alleged that the Provincial Education Ministry was planning to appoint graduates on the results of a test held later and not on the basis of the performance in the examination held earlier.
The protesters alleged that selections were made on political favouritism and other personal relationships.
They demonstrated shouting slogans outside the gates of the Provincial Ministry of Education, and dispersed. The demonstrators’ attempt to enter the building of the ministry failed as it was locked.
