SL Army, led by Gayan Buddhika made a strong comeback when they outclassed SL Navy in the second match of the Defence Services Basketball tournament, 90-73 on Monday at Police Park Grounds. At half time, SL Army were slightly ahead (44-41).

Meanwhile, defending champions, Sri Lanka Air Force posted a 75-67 victory over Sri Lanka Army in the opening match of the championship which got underway at Police Park Grounds the previous Wednesday.

Rasanga Dahanayake and Gayan Buddhika top scored with 16 and 12 points respectfully for SL Army while S. Bandara was the top scorer for SL Navy with 23 points.

It was a do or die game for SL Army who managed to stay afloat by beating SL Navy in the second match of the tournament.

SL Navy will meet SL Air Force in the final first round match at Police Park today.

The three Defence Services teams - SL Army, SL Navy and SL Air Force are competing in the tournament.

The top two teams at the end of the first round, qualify for the final.

The tournament is organised by the Sri Lanka Army.
