Rakitha Dilshan Wimaladarma of Saracens Sports Club recently took eight wickets for 68 runs and had a match-bag of 10 for 69 to record his best-ever bowling performance in first class cricket.
He took eight wickets on Oct. 31, the second day of the Premier League Tier ‘A’ cricket encounter of which he became the main contributor for a Saracens win against the Sri Lanka Army Sports Club. It was in an SLC–organised three-day cricket fixture held at Army Grounds, Panagoda. Rakitha took two wickets for just one run in the second innings to complete his ten-wicket haul.
The 24-year-old right-arm off-break bowler started playing first class cricket during the 2004-05 season. Rakitha has represented the Burgher Recreation Club, Sri Lanka Air Force and Saracens in various domestic tournaments since 2004.
His 10-wicket haul against the Army on Oct. 31 led Saracens to a 43-run win which incidentally became their first victory in five games in this season’s Premier League. (RSS)
