Some politicians who want to save their own skins are trying to use you at the forthcoming presidential election by making you their common candidate, according to media reports.

 Think twice before you leap in to the political cesspit please, as we still respect you for ending the thirty years of terrorism. We wish a day will dawn sooner or later where there will be no closure of roads, check points, barriers, and armed motorcades. We have to have human rights, free movement within our own country and to win the economic war.

Can you, the most  respected soldier in the country, ever think of sitting together on the same stage with the very people who said that:

a) Any fool (ona gonekuta)  can fight wars( said LK)

b) You are not fit to hold even the Salvation Army commander’s post ( said MS)

c) You lead the army to Pamankada and Medawachchiya instead of Alimankada (Elephant’s Pass) and Kilinochchi( RK)

d) You captured Toppigala, a jungle minus terrorists after giving them a chance to disappear into the Vanni jungles(RW)

Will you be able to get the support of of all Tamils although Mano Ganeshan and the TNA, if you agree to their demands?

Will you agree to be a cat’s paw for the UNP leader by agreeing to his conditions?

Will you help the JVP use your hard earned goodwill for ulterior motives? Do you not remember JVP threats to the army in the late 1980s?

Will you be able to convince the business and professional crowd and allay their fears of a military regime in the event of your election to the Presidency?

How will you avoid mud slinging by the power hungry opponents?

What about your safety in the event of your being a candidate? Consider the untimely demise of soldiers like Lucky Algama and Janaka Perera.
