Today’s political manoeuverings reminded me of a quotation from Plato, the ancient Greek philosopher, that is pefectly relevant advice to a recently retired gentleman :

" I observed that even the good artisans fall into the same error as poets - because they were good workmen they thought that they also knew all sorts of high matters, and this defect in them overshaadowed their wisdom."
