SLAF musclemen steal the show in Kandy
Sri Lanka Air Force musclemen made a clean sweep, by winning eight categories out of 10, at the 55th National Body Building Championships 2009, held last Saturday, at the Trinity College Auditorium, Kandy.
The Nationals, conducted by the Interim Committee headed by Jeff Schucroff, was a historic event, as it was held in Kandy for the first time.
The highlight was the exhibition posing by Prasanna Peiris, silver medalist in the 65 kg category at the 63rd World Body Building Championships, held in Doha, Qatar on Nov. 4.
Peiris was well received by a huge crowd, which packed the Trinity College Hall to the brim.
Prasanna Peiris has been based in Doha, Qatar, as a Physical Fitness Instructor, since 2004.
Peiris’ silver medal came after 45 years, the last being in 1964 when Ronnie Steinwall won a silver, behind Clancy Yang of Malaysia.
