People’s Bank "Kusalatha Pranama" scholarship ceremony
State banking giant People’s Bank will hold the ‘Sisu Udana Kusalatha Pranama’ scholarship award ceremony for the 16th consecutive year, on 20th November 2009 at 2.00 p.m. at the auditorium of the Bank’s Staff Training College. The ceremony held in commemoration of the Bank’s 48th anniversary, aims to award scholarships to 55 students who excelled at the GCE Ordinary Level examination in 2008.

Students were chosen for the scholarships according to the district and national level results certified by the Department of Examinations. They are also students who have succeeded at the first sitting of the examination. Under the scheme, People’s Bank will provide funds for up to two years to these students for their higher education needs.

This scholarship scheme, a corporate social responsibility drive by People’s Bank, aims to make a valuable contribution to the student population of Sri Lanka through involvement in the education sector. It is also conducted in appreciation of the achievements of talented students, thereby nurturing the prolific growth of the future generations of the nation.

The ‘Sisu Udana Kusalatha Pranama’ scholarship presentation ceremony will be held under the patronage of W. Karunajeewa, Chairman, People’s Bank. It will also be attended by P. V. Pathirana, Chief Executive Officer/General Manager and the corporate management of People’s Bank, together with students, their parents and the Principals of their respective schools. The ceremony will also take on a colorful and lively atmosphere with entertainment programs presented by school children.
