It is through sheer consternation that I put down this brief message, just to highlight the absurd and hypocritical attitude of the former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga.

This lady who makes a hue and cry her pension now is the very person who spoke against the pension rights of all government servants when she was in power. Little does she realise that we pensioners contribute a certain percentage of their monthly salaries towards the W & OP pension scheme, to be paid back monthly after retirement whereas she for her eleven years of tenure, did not contribute a cent. All parliamentarians become qualified for pensions within five years.

Chandrika is not qualified to receive a cent from the poor tax payers’ money, as pension.
