KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) — Oil prices slipped to near $79 a barrel Thursday in Asia amid mixed signals over the strength of the global economic recovery.

Benchmark crude for December delivery was down 53 cents to $79.05 a barrel at late afternoon Singapore time in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
