SL Post and SLT Mobitel reloads through postman

Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel, The National Mobile Service Provider, recently announced that Mobitel SMART users can now avail themselves of reload facilities via local postmen. Mobitel, through this initiative, has become the first ever mobile telecommunications provider to offer this unique service to enhance customer reach and convenience.

Sri Lanka Post, with a strength of 7750 registered postmen and 4500 Main and Sub Post Offices across the island, serves as the distribution network for this new service.

The service initially has been launched in the Kaluthara District with approximately 200 postmen serving this area.

SMART customers will be able to reload their SMART connection with any amount between Rs.20 to Rs.2990 through the Postman at their door-step and there will not be any additional service fee or direct/indirect taxes in "SMART Reload at doorstep" facility.

Secretary to the Ministry of Post & Telecommunication Chandra Jayathilake said, "This is a groundbreaking initiative involving for the first time ever a telecommunications company and the national Postal department joining hands to offer a service of this nature to customers." He added, "In today’s fast- paced world where constant connectivity is vital, this unique partnership will no doubt be of great value to us as consumers."

Chairperson Sri Lanka Telecom and Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel Leisha De Silva Chandrasena commented, "Sri Lanka Post with over 200 years in Postal services has been crucial in this partnership with Mobitel. We at Mobitel are particularly proud and honoured of our relationships as national entities who are pioneers in the respective services they offer and would like to express our sincere gratitude to Sri Lanka Post and to the registered postmen, without whom, this original service could not be made possible."

"Postmaster General M.K.B Dissanayake speaking on the initiative said, "Sri Lanka Post looks forward to working together with Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel as a new distribution channel partner. We are proud to be a part of a service which has not been offered previously, anywhere in the world. Sri Lanka Post eagerly looks forward to serve the Kaluthara district and we hope to rapidly expand this service island-wide in the near future."
