Recent events in the political field indicate that it is Mangala Samaraweera and Company who are trying to destabilise the country. ‘The company’ includes Ranil W., Somawansa A., Mano Ganeshan, Anura Kumara and Tilvin Silva, They want to see a division in the army and the patriotic bloc. They organised pickets, protests, work to rule campaigns and strikes, while trying to create a division in the armed forces.

The Company’s aim is to grab power by hook or by crook even giving false and impracticable election promises. The situation will be worse when the election is declared as lot of western money as well as LTTE funds will be spent on media advertisements against the Rajapaksa regime. RW wanted to create a tussle between journalists and this government in order to gain some mileage, but MR was very careful in handling the situation.

The Rajapaksa government is not 100% blameless. There are the mistakes and misdeeds of some members of the government. But the fact remains that the government was moving the country towards prosperity with a well designed plan. Most of the activities undertaken have far reaching goals. The war was handled properly and the problem of IDPs too has been solved to a great extent. The workers got salary hikes and arrears and the cost of essential food items were drastically reduced. What more can we expect from a government of a poor country like ours?

What Samaraweera and Company should do at this juncture, is to support the government in carrying out the planned process of developing the country.
