Russian Orthodox priest shot dead in Moscow church
MOSCOW (AP) - Prosecutors say that a Russian Orthodox priest has been shot dead in his Moscow church.
Prosecutors said Friday that an unidentified gunman shot Rev. Daniil Sysoyev at point-blank range at his church.
Sysoyev died of wounds at a hospital after the attack late Thursday.
Russian Orthodox Church spokesman Rev. Vladimir Vigilyansky said the killing could have been linked to Sysoyev’s missionary activities.
The attacker also shot and wounded Sysoyev’s assistant who has remained hospitalized.
