

Lyceum International School, Nugegoda, won the Under-19 Inter-international Schools Basketball Championship for the third consecutive year beating the Colombo International School, Colombo, in a thrilling final by a margin of 20 points, recently. The Championship was conducted this year by the British School in Colombo for the 13th occasion.
Both teams played excellent basketball and Lyceum International School proved to be the better team with their outstanding and disciplined play.
The scores read 47-37 at halftime, in Lyceum’s favour and they kept the lead right up to the final whistle. The final score read 91-70.
The most outstanding player of the championships was Rumesh Senanayake who was awarded the Golden Hoop and the Most Valuable Player of the Tournament. Angelo Jayasuriya won the Most Valuable Player of the Finals award. Both players represented Lyceum - Nugegoda.
Lyceum International School beat Royal Institute in the league phase by 73-39 and British School in Colombo by 72-44.
The quarter-finals were played against Lyceum International School - Wattala and the Nugegoda team won 58-33. In the semi-finals, Lyceum - Nugegoda beat Gateway College - Colombo with a score of 73 - 49.
Lyceum International School - Nugegoda team is coached by Gayan Meedeniya and Roshan Gunasekera. The Teachers-in-charge are (Ms) Vanessa Labrooy and (Ms) Himani Fernando.
