A gang of seven, including four women, involved in the sale of infants, was arrested by the Bakamuna Police during investigations into cases involving the disappearance of babies from hospitals.
Two of the suspects were attached to a private sector security firm and serving as security guards at the Polonnaruwa Hospital. Police investigations revealed the two
security men were the brains behind the racket.
A one-month-old infant was also found in the home of one of the suspects. Police were searching for another infant sold by the suspects a month ago.
