Agricultural development

The government does not need to import rice and other commodities to our country which was once the granary of the east. What the government has to do is (like activating IDP settlement) to encourage Sri Lankan farmers in Polonnaruwa, Jaffna and Batticaloa to cultivate. They can do wonders in paddy production,in maintaining dairy farms and even in vegetable cultivation. The government should leave no stone unturned to increases agricultural development immediately, as farmers are prepared to meet the food needs of the people. This activity will definitely bring down the cost of living and increase benefits. The state can give serious thought to this idea which will elevate economic standards too. At the same time, this is akin to granting a salary increase to government servants.
