Taj Samudra - e-Asia 2009 accommodation
provider for foreign delegates
The Taj Samudra Hotel has been chosen by ICTA as the e-Asia 2009 accommodation and logistics provider for foreign delegates .
The word ‘Taj’ recalls to anyone the ‘Taj’ of ancient fame, the Taj Mahal, the finest example of Mughal architecture, a style that combines elements from Persian, Indian and Islamic architectural styles.
Another ‘Taj’, a modern one, the Taj Samudra hotel with its exquisite facilities cannot fail to transport you to the era of the mausoleum built by Mughhal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal.
While the world heritage in Agra recalls the love of a king to his spouse the Taj Smudra Hotel in Colombo cannot fail to add great moments for one’s memory with all that it has to offer. Located in the business hub of Colombo in the island of Sri Lanka, the pearl of the Indian Ocean, it is only a short stroll away from the city centre for museums and restaurants.
Speaking about additions, renovations and introduction of advanced technology a senior hotel spokesperson said that the hotel now had 291 rooms and 19 suites and that the whole hotel was waifai-enabled. "With banquet halls, ‘Crystal Upper’, ‘Crystal Lower’, ‘Gregory’ and ‘Longdon’ nearly renovated the Taj Samudra is well equipped to offer the best for events or recreation".
Set in 11 acres of landscaped gardens, the Taj Samudra with the Indian Ocean within sight is an ideal venue both for recreation and business. To talk about Taj Samudra from the perspective of business and planning events, it has one of Colombo’s largest convention centres, and is a distinctive setting for meetings and events. Up to 450 guests could be accommodated at the elegant Ball Room or if preferred they could be treated to an authentic Sri Lankan night on the lush lawns.
e-Asia 2009 culminating in the three-day conference cum exhibition from December 2 to 4 at BMICH Colombo, in which the Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA) will be the hosting partner, will provide the Sri Lankan ICT industry the opportunity for showcasing its potential. The premier ICT event is an open ICT for development (ICT4D) platform for Asian countries to disseminate and discuss the best practices, opportunities, challenges and for promoting growth in Asia.
About 24 countries particularly from Asia but including USA and Europe will be represented at top level. About 100 institutions, more than 1000 international delegates and 800 local visitors are expected to participate in the conference while about 30,000 are scheduled to visit the exhibition. True to its theme "Opportunities for digital Asia", e-Asia 2009 will be a great opportunity for interacting particularly with the countries of the region. Indeed a great memorable experience of a life time is in store for the local and international participants at e-Asia 2009 both at conference and exhibition.
