After a lapse of 20 years, the government has decided to appoint Moulavi Teachers. The appointment will be made in the first week of December.

Western Province Governor Alhaj S. Alavi Moulana and Presidential Advisor Alhaj A. H. M. Azwer met Treasury Secretary Dr. P. B. Jayasundara last week regarding the appointments.

Minister of Education Susil Premajayanth has issued instructions to the Additional Secretary of the Ministry, Alhaj Mohamed Thamby, to conduct the final interview and make the appointments thereafter.

Earlier President Mahinda Rajapaksa instructed the Ministry of Education to initiate action to appoint Moulavi teachers to schools where such vacancies exist, Azwer said.
