FR plea by retired Army
Commander to be supported in Court on Dec. 2

The fundamental rights violation application filed by retired Army Commander General Sarath Fonseka will be supported in the Supreme Court on December 2, 2009.

The petitioner had requested the Supreme Court to order the Defence Ministry to provide him with adequate security and further, to order the State to permit the General to continue occupying the official residence in Colombo even after the retirement.

The respondents are the Secretary, Defence, Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, the Commander of the Sri Lanka Army, Lt. General Jagath Jayasuriya, the Secretary to the President, Lalith Weeratunga, the IGP and the Attorney General.
