The Budget of the North Western Province, presented by Chief Minister Berty Premlal Dissanayake, was passed with a majority of 18 votes.

The UNP after causing disturbances throughout the Budget speech, walked out at the time of voting while the only JVP member voted against.

The Chairman suspended sittings twice due to disturbances caused by the main Opposition UNP but on every occasion the meeting was reconvened the UNP resorted to obstructing the proceedings.
