Kandy SLTB depot has no bus to replace one broken down

Kandy - In the event of a breakdown of a bus operating on any particular route in Kandy, the SLTB Kandy South Depot is unable to replace it with another thus putting commuters through great hardship.

Commuters, particularly those returning home after the days work, suddenly find that the bus they are travelling in has broken down, leaving them stranded as there is none to replace it.

The commuters often suffer from this problem specially on the Kandy-Dodanwala route, a distance of approximately four miles from the Kandy bus stand.

On Sunday (22) evening, the commuters failed to get the CTB bus normally scheduled to leave at 7.30 p.m. The time keepers at the Kandy clock tower bus stand had told them at 7.45 p.m. that the Dodanwala bus had broken down on the way and had no replacement.

Meanwhile, it was found that several Kandy South Depot buses were parked at the Torrington Road with the lights switched off.
