Following a warning issued by the National Transport Commission (NTC) to long distance private bus operators, yesterday, short distance operators in Nittambuwa, Gampaha and Kirillawela called off their strike launched on Monday in protest against long distance buses picking up passengers at Nittambuwa.

The NTC issued a letter to the Lanka Private Bus Owners Association yesterday stating that it would issue three warning letters to long distances bus operators and if they still continued to pick up passengers at Nittambuwa their route permits would be cancelled.
