The CID yesterday filed an application before the Colombo Chief Magistrate Nisantha Hapuarachi to remand a suspect taken into custody under a detention order for posing as a relative of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Filing a ‘B’ report the CID said that suspect Jayantha Jude Illinosi, a resident of Piliyandala, had posed as a relative of the President. Under the fake name of Amal Rajapaksa, he had held the post of Vice President of Colombo and

Kandy Jewellers Association. In that capacity, the suspect had paid visits to the President at both his Colombo and Kandy official residences. The B report further states that the suspect’s actions posed a danger to the President.

The suspect was remanded till December 27.
