Special committee for propaganda campaigns
A special Presidential Election Operations committee of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), chaired by Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickremanayake, has been appointed to carry out propaganda campaigns and other activities connected with the forthcoming elections, said Administrative Secretary of the SLFP, S. H. Ariyasena, yesterday.
He said that the second phase of the Mahinda Chinthanaya proposals would be released shortly at an auspicious time.
He said that President Mahinda Rajapaksa had made these appointments and senior Presidential Advisor and MP Basil Rajapaksa would coordinate the campaign activities.
The Committee comprises of SLFP General Secretary, Minister Maithripala Sirisena, Treasurer, Minister Dulles Alahapperuma, Peoples Alliance General Secretary, Minister D. M. Jayaratna, UPFA General Secretary, Minister Susil Premajayanth, SLFP Vice President, Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva, Ministers Dinesh Gunawardena, Dew Gunasekera, Champika Ranawaka, A. H. M. Fowzie, all Tamil Muslim Ministers in the UPFA Government, and Wimal Weerawansa.
