Sri Lanka Air Force boxer Suresh, competing at National level for the first time, beat former National champion Manjula Wanniarachchi comprehensively (16-06) at the trials, worked off on Thursday, at the Royal College Sports Complex.

By virtue of this win, Suresh qualifies to represent Sri Lanka in the fly weight category, at the forthcoming South Asian Games in Bangladesh.

The referee was forced to stop the bout in the third round, as Wanniarachchi was bleeding heavily.
