Minister of Sports Gamini Lokuge has approved the appointment of versatile sportsman, Shammi Silva as the Chairman of the National Squash Selection Committee for a period of one year on November 20.
Shammi Silva, presently the Chairman of the Gymkhana Club, was an all-round sportsman having Captained the Nalanda College cricket team, represented his alma-mater also in badminton and athletics, and later on, represented CCC in cricket and squash. He also was a regular in the national squash team.
Other members includes Air Vice Marshal Bren Sosa, who himself was a former President of the Squash Federation and Chairman of the National Selection Committee along with Wg. Cmdr. Tony Dirckze, Malaka Talwatte and Shivanthi Perera, who all have been past selectors. Perera and Talwatte have also been past national squash players.

Members - Air Vice Marshal (Retd) Bren Sosa, Wg. Cmdr. (Retd) Tony Dirckze, (Ms) Shivanthi Perera and Malaka Talwatte.
