Traitors are easily identifiable –Weerawansa

KANDY - It is now possible to distinctively identify who the present day traitors of the nation are. Thet are being shielded by General Sarath Fonseka, leader of the National Freedom Front, MP and General Secretary Patriotic National Movement, Wimal Weerawansa said in Kandy last week end.

He was addressing a meeting at the Kandyan Art Centre to mark the 191st death anniversary of Marawila Keppetipola, the hero of the 1818 rebellion.

He said the traitors had fallen in line enabling the public to easily identify them.

The United National Party’s call for release of all Tamils in Custody was a clear attempt to support the LTTE relaunch their endeavour for a division of the country, Weerawansa said.

The NFF leader invited the Maha Sangha to lead the struggle of the patriotic masses to defeat the traitorous forces making a combine effort to betray the nation once again.

The very leaders who ridiculed Sarath Fonseka saying that he was not fit even to lead the Salvation Army had made him their common candidate at the forthcoming Presidential election. All those who support the common candidate have joined hands with Mano Ganeshan who enjoyed a dip in the swimming pool with LTTE leader Velupillai Prbakaran, Weerawansa charged.

He said all the groups including the JVP, are supporting the UNP leader Ranil Wickremasinghe, the agent of the imperialist forces of the West. It was of paramount importance to identify those groups posing as patriots, fighting for various freedoms and shouting slogans to please the masses. Their effort was aimed at pleasing the imperialist West, he said.

During the short period Ranil Wickreamsinghe was in power LTTE cadres held in custody were not prosecuted, instructions were issued to the AG’s department to state that there were no charges against them. Accordingly they were released.

What the UNP wanted now is no different. The UNP’s demand to produce the LTTE cadres held in custody in Courts, is to get them released. What cannot be understood is the JVP’s support to this move. The JVP was a party that was dead against a division of the country, it is now supporting the groups in favour of the division of the motherland. LTTE members were found among the IDPs and among those who have been resettled. Among those arrested was Charles Anthony’s driver.

Dr. Gunadasa Amarasekara, president of the PNM said that the death anniversary of the National hero Monarawila Keppetipla was held at an important moment of time.

The hero of the 1818 rebellion fought against imperialism but at present so called heroes are supporting the forces which are agents of Western imperialism, he said.
