One kilo of lime costs Rs. 400

The price of the lime fruit has shot up beyond the reach of ordinary consumers.

The price of a kilo of lime fruits has risen to four hundred rupees due to short supply.

The house holders use other varieties of citrus fruits instead of lime for the preparation of curries.

Meanwhile, the price of vegetables also has shot up due to heavy rains experienced in last few-weeks, including beans, carrot, beet-root, chillies and big onions.

The local vegetable production also has come down due to unfavourable weather conditions in Kalutara district.
