Sanga appointed Kings XI Punjab Captain

NEW DELHI, December 16: Sri Lankan skipper Kumar Sangakkara was today appointed the new captain of Kings XI Punjab for the third edition of the cash-rich Indian Premier League (IPL).

He replaces Yuvraj Singh.

Reports circulating here for over a week now say that the team’s coach Tom Moody had complained to the owners of the franchise about Yuvraj’s attitude problem, saying he continually ignored the team management’s advice.

The decision has been reportedly been conveyed to Yuvraj.

Yuvraj led the team in the first two seasons of the IPL. It reached the semi-finals in the first season, but could not replicate that success in the second.

Yuvraj is the fourth captain from among IPL teams to be sacked. The others are Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman and Sourav Ganguly.

However, Ganguly has been reinstated as skipper of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). KKR is owned by Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan.
