Two school children of 10 years and 6 years were drowned when they accidentally fell into an unprotected well while playing near their home on Lidersdale Estate in Ragala.

Father of the children, S. Chandran told the inquest the deceased were two of his four children and they were in the habit of playing in the vicinity of their home in the afternoons since it was vacation time. On Thursday, when the two children failed to return home, he along with his wife had searched for them and found the bodies of the children in the well.

Nuwara Eliya Coroner Siripala Dayananda advised that parents of young children should check for the safety of small children from time to time. He returned a verdict of death due to drowning.
