Cruelty to animals

Animal rights activists scream that animal sacrifices should stop.

It is undoubtedly a humane call. There are followers of certain religions, who at certain events, sacrifice various animals in the name of God, gods or goddesses hoping that it would bring them prosperity and happiness.

Those animal rights activists do not appear to have been motivated by compassion. If so, they would begin their protest with animal slaughter for human consumption.

If animals are slaughtered in their millions to give physical strength to man, it is permissible and reasonable if they are slaughtered as sacrifices seeking spiritual strength and divine shelter; that too, should be acceptable and reasonable.

The animals love their life and are frightened of death.

Total elimination or abstention from taking life, whether human or animal, is a significant spiritual attainment on one's journey to reach perfection.

Some animal rights activists, who even object to elephants being used to walk in a religious procession do not object to millions of cattle, camels or goats being slaughtered for consumption and sacrifices, and hundreds of bulls being tortured in bull fights.

And, who objects to donkeys, bulls, horses and camels being used to carry heavy loads?
