MP Sajith Premadasa, chairman of the Janasuwaya foundation and Member of Parliament, who is a very keen wildlife conservationist, facilitated the provision of much needed medicine to save a tusked elephant in the wilds of Nawagattegama of the Puttalam district recently. The elephant had been shot in several places and had been severely injured due to a large number of gun shots that had been fired at it. The tusker succumbed to the injuries two days after it was treated.
