Non-Cabinet minister Mervin Silva told The Island that his supporters had been attacked by persons who had come in white vans. He said that the police should immediately take action against the persons responsible for this attack. Responding to our queries, he said that he had been away from Kiribathgoda when the Opposition targeted his supporters. He said that Opposition activists had been on the rampage believing their candidate Sarath Fonseka could win the forthcoming presidential polls. (NP)
