TNA support for Fonseka based on secret pact - Govt.

* Release of hardcore LTTE cadres in custody

* Re-merger of NE

* Reducing the strength of State Intelligence

* Curtailing strengh of military and police

* Dismantaling of high security zones

Media Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena said yesterday that common Presidential candidate Sarath Fonseka had secretly agreed to five conditions put forward by the Tamil National Alliance in return of their support at the election.

They are:

1. Release of hardcore LTTE cadres in custody

2. Re-merger of the North and the East

3. Reducing the strength of the intelligence services in the North and the East

4. Reducing the strengh of military and police strength

5. Dismantaling of high security zones

He said an international leader of the LTTE V. Rudrakumar had said that the LTTE would soon recommence its operations. He said similar sentiments haad also been expressed by Wasantha Rajah a London based LTTE leader.

Abeywardena said that all partners of the United National Front had agreed to the TNA demands and the JVP which earlier sought the demerger of the north and east had now agreed for a remerger in accordance of the wishes of the TNA.

The Minister referred to a statement made by Fonseka in the US that all LTTE cadres in custody must be tried.

The Minister said that the government challengedthe TNA and Fonseka to reveal their secret pact.
