Trade Finance workshop for SMEs
Standard Chartered Bank plays advisory role

Standard Chartered Bank’s SME unit recently organized a special workshop on Trade Finance for its SME clientele, sharing best practices linked to CSR efforts, bringing the global knowledge to the local market & creating a value proposition. This was the first such program organized by Standard Chartered Bank for this segment to educate & support its SME clients. The workshop was held on 20th November 2009 at the Park Premiere Conference Hall. The workshop was conducted by Janaka Serasinghe - Head of Trade Services at Standard Chartered Bank and was well received by the clients, most of whom represented Shipping, Finance, Import & Export specializations. The Bank will continue to conduct these advisory sessions throughout the year in a bid to support their business growth and share groups knowledge & expertise.  

Speaking at the event Mr. Anirvan Ghosh Dastidar, Head of Consumer Banking said, "SME businesses are an important and growing business segment in Sri Lanka.
