separatist threat - President
= Confident of clear victory
= TNA demands unacceptable

The government will expedite legal proceedings relating to LTTE suspects held under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) and Emergency Regulations.

With the presidential elections around the corner, politicians are not the only ones visiting Nallur Kovil. German Ambassador Jens Ploetner during a three-day visit to Jaffna along the Kandy-Jaffna A9 route participated in a Thai Pongal festival at the Nallur Temple. A spokesperson for the German Embassy said that the Ambassador had held talks with Jaffna Mayoress Yogeswari Patgunarajah and Government Agent K. Ganesh. He had also visited a resettlement project in Punkuditivu funded by Germany. With football being one of the most popular sports in Germany the Ambassador explored the possibility of commencing a joint football project with the Jaffna Football League.
