The Akmeemana Police refused to entertain a complaint from a mother of a 16-year-old mentally retarded girl who was allegedly beaten by the matron of a children’s home run by an NGO.

The victim was injured in the eye.

The mother had subsequently lodged a complaint with Galle SSP Keerthi Silva, who directed the Women and Children’s Bureau of the Galle Police to conduct investigations.

Investigations have been initiated. So far no arrests have been made.
