Early voting appeal by Ranil

Opposition and UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe requested the voters to go to the polling station early morning tomorrow and cast their ballots.

He also urged them not to give into any threats or intimidation.

His plea came as he addressed the final campaign rally for opposition candidate Gen (Retd) Sarath Fonseka on Saturday.

Wickremesinghe also requested all voters not to resort to any violent or destructive revelling of the victory or loss and not to damage public or private properties.

Making a special request to UNP and JVP party activists, Wickremesinghe alleged that the government was planning to win this election "by hook or by crook", and reminded them that it was their duty to safeguard and protect the respective polling stations.
