Wildlife  sanctuaries  re-open
Two of the country’s famous wildlife sanctuaries were reopened on Saturday after years of closure.

Wildlife Conservation Department director Ananda Wijesuriya said the two sites - Kumana, a bird sanctuary and a main eco-tourism attraction and Lahugala, a wildlife park/ sanctuary reserve, were now open to the public.

They had been closed for tourists since 2005 after security forces commenced their final battle against terrorists.

"After the end of the war we received security clearance," Wijesuriya said.
