

Remembering Upali Wijewardene
The 27th anniversary of the disappearance of Mr. Upali Wijewardene, the Founder Chairman of Upali Group, falls on February 13.
The Upali Group, its employees and sales agents islandwide have made arrangements to commemorate this event with religious ceremonies and blood donation campaigns.
A special Bodhi Pooja and a blood donation campaign will be held at the Kelaniya Rajamaha Viharaya, organised by the Upali Group employees.
Alms will be offered to the Maha Sangha at Kelaniya Rajamaha Viharaya and ten needy children from the Helena Wijewardane Maha Vidyalaya, Kelaniya will receive scholarships.
A special pooja will also be held at the Sri Dalada Maligawa, Kandy, with the participation of the Maha Sangha and the Diyawadana Nilame at 10 a.m. Inmates of ‘Asarana Sarana’ Elders Home, Kandy will be provided with lunch at 11.30am and a
Bodhi Pooja and Pahan Pooja pinkama conducted at the Sri Natha Devalaya, Kandy at 5.30 pm.
A special Bodhi Pooja and Pahan Pooja will be held at Sri Saman Devalaya, Ratnapura, organised by the UNL Ratnapura Branch and Kandos and Delta sales agents. The employees of Upali Trading Co. have organised lunch for the inmates of ‘Children’s Home’ at Ja-Ela.
Founder’s Day Programme on 13th February 2010:
8.30am - Blood Donation Camp at Kelaniya Rajamaha Viharaya, organised by the employees of Upali Group of Companies.
10.30am - Refreshments
11am - Scholarships to ten children from the Helena Wijewardane Maha Vidyalaya, Kelaniya.
12 noon - Lunch for the Childrens Home, Ja-Ela, organised by the employees of the Upali Trading Co. Ltd.
6.00 pm - Bodhi Pooja and Pahan Pooja at Kelaniya Rajamaha Viharaya.
