The new boss of the Telecommunication Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL), Anusha Palpita will continue to wear the hat of the Government Information chief as well at least for a few months more.
"The President asked me to take over the TRCSL, and as a public servant I am prepared to serve in any institution entrusted to me", he said yesterday.
"I know it’s difficult to head two diverse state institutions with multiple functions, but I will have to continue at least for the next few months", he noted.
Palpita will be assuming duties as the new TRCSL Chairman tomorrow morning.
"There is no problem with the administrative aspects, but I will have to get a grip on the technical side of TRCSL’s functions and duties", he said. "As financial management is my forte, I need to study the technical factors involved".
Priyantha Kariyapperuma, the former TRCSL chief stepped down after a top government official accused him of playing a "double game" by supporting defeated presidential candidate, Gen. (Retd) Sarath Fonseka on the sly.
