The way it had been reported in the media recently that
SL’s women’s football team had left Dhaka, Bangladesh, without playing
in their scheduled match against Pakistan gives the wrong impression
that the Lankan team had avoided meeting Pakistan and run away from the
competition, the Football Federation of SL said in a communiqué on Sat.
(6).
It clarifies the issue saying: ‘Our team travelled on air tickets
issued by the National Olympic Committee of SL and they were informed
that their air tickets had been advanced and rebooked for the 4th (of
Feb.) and were requested to leave on that day.’ It also adds their team
‘had to follow the instructions given by the Chef de Mission’.
