SF’s security officers complain to SC of illegal arrest, detention

Eight security officers of Sarath Fonseka have complained to the Supreme Court of illegal arrest and illegal detention by the Criminal Investigations Department.

They have said that while serving at Fonseka’s office at the Rajakeeya Mawatha, Colombo 7, office, they were arrested arbitrarily on January 29, 2010 and detained at the Terrorist Investigations Unit.

They are being detained in a small room where about 40 persons are held, they have complained.

The petition requested Court to direct the DIG of the CID to release the petitioner and others from mala-fide custody, forthwith.

As interim relief, they requested the Court to direct the respondent authorities to revoke the purported detention orders, issued on these petitioner.

The eight petitioners are L. H. L. J. de Silva, retired Air Force Corporal, H. Indunil Susantha Pudaligama, retired Army Officer, D. M. U. Senarath Dissanayake, K. S. P. Anura Kalgan, D. S. N. K. Mallikaarachchi, Vijitha Heastan, Ranjith Devapriya and Egodage Lalith Ananda.

They have alleged that they were not informed of the reason for their arrest.
