General (retd) Sarath Fonseka was issued an ordinary passport after he surrendered his diplomatic passport.
Controller of Immigration and Emigration P. B. Abeykoon said that VIPs and heads of defence establishments were entitled to diplomatic passports but once they vacated their positions they became entitled to ordinary travel documents.
