Not nation building

Nation Building Minister, according to  The Island of Feb. 06, is to request the President to appoint special commissions to review judgements by former Chief Justice. It seems Minister had been wrongly convicted by the former CJ.

At a time when the country after a bitterly fought election should take steps to heal the wounds and settle down for business, what earthly reason is there for the politicians to revisit the past to rake up issues that are non existent. If the Minister was wrongly convicted by the former CJ,  he could have appealed to  a higher court then and there without waiting till a Presidential election was held.

I dread a situation where a special commission may set aside some of the verdicts given by the former CJ. For example his verdict limiting the former president’s second term to five years changed the entire history of the country. Does the Minister of Nation Building want the President to review that  judgement? Or does he want the Special Commission to review his judgement  on  the demerger of the North and the East? It is high time we stopped mixing up personal matters with nation building.
